These books have been a collaborative labor of love.
When Brian first conceived the idea of the Wishing Stone, it was a charming three chapter children's book, which Matt edited and illustrated to present the values of kindness and selflessness.
From there, Brian and Matt have worked together to create, modify and flesh out, the books that continue to bring the wonder of Brian's original vision to life.
Our WISH is that you enjoy reading them as much as we enjoyed creating them.
Brian Leavitt was born the second of five boys in a family of seven. He and his brothers were similar to typical boys of the time exploring on adventures and using their imagination, not only to play but to torment and tease each other. His father was an art teacher and taught his kids to paint while out in nature. This foundation molded him into who he has become today.
Brian loves to use art and innovation in any medium, whether it is painting, music, or writing stories. His love of painting led him to become a house painter in his early career but the lack of creativity in the job caused him to seek other ways to generate ideas when his brother challenged him to write a children's book. Writing fantasy stories became a treasured accomplishment.
Along with art Brian loves to go on outdoor adventures and learning survival skills. He spends lots of time in nature with his beautiful wife, Joy and little dog, Cash. Brian still finds a moment to create while enjoying the fresh air, as he did as a young boy.
Although Brian loves to create and explore the outdoors, his greatest priorities are the love he has for family and his faith in Jesus Christ. All of these things make Brian who he is, a true treasure for all who know him.
The ‘Design Guy’—Matt—is devoted to all praiseworthy creative things. He is the oldest sibling and wisest guy (read: wise guy) of the bunch.
As a baby, Matt survived sub-zero temperatures in a broken-down Oldsmobile—in the middle of nowhere, well past midnight—while his parents miracled them a ride back home, one hundred miles away. God's miracles happen every day, but you must be willing to see.
Matt currently lives with his exotic wife and four lovable kids, in a cozy home close to horses.
He enjoys geeking out on fantasy costumes, and loves hidden bookcase doors, hobbit holes, and book gobbling.
